Last weekend

Talk about a finished day using common past-tense verbs.

1. Grammar: Past simple: finished actions

Use the past simple for finished actions. Many verbs add -ed: walk → walked. Learn common irregular forms: go → went, eat → ate, buy → bought, see → saw, have → had. Questions use did + base verb; negatives use didn’t + base verb. Be changes to was/were and does not use did.

I + past verb. → I visited a friend.
Did you + base verb? → Did you go out?
I didn’t + base verb. → I didn’t buy anything.
Where did you go? → I went to a shop.
Was it good? → Yes, it was.

B: No, I didn’t.
