A: Excuse me — does this bus go to Central Station?
B: Yes, it does! It stops right out front.
A: Oh great. Do you know how many stops that is from here?
B: About four stops. It takes roughly ten minutes.
A: And do I need to tap on when I get on?
B: Yes — tap on when you board and tap off when you get out. There's a card reader by the door.
A: Perfect, thank you so much!
B: No worries, have a good trip!

Natural Phrases to Know

Asking about the route

Does this bus / train go to...? Which stop is [place]? How many stops is it? Is this the right platform for...? Where do I change?

Buying a ticket

A single to [place], please. A return to [place], please. Is there a day pass? What's the fare to...? Do you accept card?

On board

Is this seat taken? Could you let me know when we reach...? Excuse me, I need to get off. I think I may have missed my stop. Is this the last stop?

When something goes wrong

I think I'm on the wrong train / bus. Where do I go to get back to...? Is there a delay? My card isn't working — can you help?
