A: Good morning, City Clinic. How can I help you?
B: Hello, I'd like to book an appointment with Dr. Smith, please.
A: Of course. Is this for a new concern or a follow-up visit?
B: It's a new concern — I've been having some back pain for about a week.
A: I see. Dr. Smith has availability this Thursday at 10 AM or Friday at 2 PM. Which would you prefer?
B: Thursday at 10 AM would be perfect, thank you.

Natural Phrases to Know

Stating your reason for calling

I'd like to book an appointment, please. I've been experiencing some... I haven't been feeling well lately. It's been going on for about [time]. I was referred by Dr. [name]. I'd like to get checked for...

Asking about availability

Do you have anything available this week? What's the earliest appointment? Is there a cancellation slot available? I'm flexible — whatever's available works. Preferably in the morning, if possible.

Confirming your booking

Just to confirm, that's [day] at [time]? What should I bring to the appointment? Is there parking at the clinic? How long will the appointment be? Could you send me a reminder?

Rescheduling or cancelling

I need to reschedule my appointment. Unfortunately I need to cancel for [day]. Is there any availability on [day] instead? Something came up — I'm so sorry.
