Say what is in a room and where things are.
1. Grammar: There is/are and place words
Use there is for one thing and there are for more than one. Ask Is there …? or Are there …? Use there isn’t / there aren’t for negatives. In, on, under, and next to tell us where something is.
- There is + a/an + item. → There is a bed.
- There are + number + plural noun. → There are two chairs.
- Is there a table? → Yes, there is. / No, there isn’t.
- Where is the bag? → It is under the table.

B: Yes, there is. There are two chairs, too.
A: Where is your bag?
B: It is on the chair.
